Apple Repair Guides

How to ID Your Mac

First you'll need to find your Mac's serial number by clicking on the  "Apple Logo" in the top left corner of the screen on your Mac's desktop.

Then click on "About This Mac" button

Next click on the "More Info" button.

Now copy or write down the serial number to enter in Apple's Check Your Service and Support Coverage tool. In addition to telling you your Mac's warranty coverage, the tool will also tell you what type and the model release year (which is how Macs are identified, not by when they were purchsed or produced).

Once you have the model from Apple's website, use one of the links to PDF files of the official Apple Tecnician Repair guides. Currently guides are available for most Macs from 2005 through 2011 desktops and laptops (including the new slim Macbook Air 11" and 13" from Late-2010). If you have access to more current guides that aren't available on this page I would be very grateful if you would be willing to share them with other teak23MacParts.com users (of course you can remain anonymous if you wish for your own protection).
